With the Ranger’s first World Series win in 2023 after the hiring of Bruce Bochy and many other additions from the work of GM Chris Young, many thought about what was next. Well last year the Rangers seemed to disappoint with an under .500 season and a no-show in the playoffs, but there is reason behind this. Many big players had huge injuries early on like ace pitcher Jacob deGrom who had Tommy John surgery in 2024. On top of losing their ace for the season, they lost many other key players during different sprints within the 2024 season like Corey Seager, Max Scherzer, Jon Gray, Evan Carter, Josh Sborz, and Josh Jung. These injuries caused an upset in the 2024 season and some high expectations going into 2025 after the offseason when we added 2 Vanderbilt Pitchers, Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker, and former Dodger and Seager teammate Joc Pederson. Well, going into 2025 the Rangers have had several players with injuries like Cory Seager, Kumar Rocker, Josh Sborz, Jon Gray, and Jack Leiter, with these injuries the Rangers have a record of .500(18-18), tied for 3rd in the West and top 15 overall within the league. With big starts from Wyatt Langford, Kevin Pillar, and Josh Smith all batting right under .300, and Seager and Jung batting over .280 the Rangers are averaging 3 runs a game off of a team average of .225 batting average. With big starts from pitchers Eovaldi and Leiter having an ERA under 2.00 and Mahle with a 1.14 ERA, our pitching is looking sharp, and that’s with deGrom underperforming from his usual status and Kumar having a shaky first 6 games. With these early injuries, the Rangers can still make a run in the playoffs as long as these little injuries don’t become longer and bigger problems that can affect the team drastically. It may be too early to tell for sure but it looks like we may be seeing the red, white, and blue add a little bit of gold to that colourway.

One response to “Can the Texas Rangers make Championship Run or will early injuries again set them back?”

they have made some adjustments on the offensive side which is where the problem has been. Once they start swinging the bat, they will catch fire. Starting pitching and bullpen has carried them to a .500 record after yesterdays win in Boston.
My prediction is that they make a run.
